इनका नाम #अविमुक्तेश्वरानंद है। ये मूल रूप से उत्तर प्रदेश के प्रतापगढ़ जिले के निवासी हैं। बचपन में इनका नाम उमा शंकर पांडे था। ये कांग्रेस की छात्र इकाई राष्ट्रीय छात्र संगठन के न केवल सक्रिय सदस्य रहे, बल्कि इसी संगठन के तहत वाराणसी के संपूर्णानंद संस्कृत विश्वविद्यालय में छात्र संघ के महामंत्री भी बने। शुरुआत में ये स्थानीय कांग्रेस नेताओं के लिए छोटे-मोटे धरने और प्रदर्शनों का काम करते थे, लेकिन राजनीति में इनका सिक्का नहीं जम पाया। इसके बाद ये कांग्रेस के समर्थक रहे शंकराचार्य स्वरूपानंद सरस्वती से दीक्षा लेकर अविमुक्तेश्वरानंद बन गए।
सबसे वयोवृद्ध शंकराचार्य निश्चलानंद सरस्वती के अनुसार, अपने गुरु की मृत्यु के बाद इन्होंने एक उत्तराधिकार पत्र दिखाकर शंकराचार्य का पद हड़प लिया, जबकि उनके गुरु ने ऐसा कोई पत्र दिया ही नहीं था। इन्हें शंकराचार्य पद पर नियुक्त करने वाली संस्था काशी विद्वत परिषद ने भी मान्यता नहीं दी है। साथ ही, सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने भी इन्हें शंकराचार्य के पद का निर्वहन करने से रोक दिया है। कानूनी रूप से, इनका स्वयं को शंकराचार्य कहना सुप्रीम कोर्ट की अवमानना का अपराध है। फिर भी, ये खुद को शंकराचार्य कहते हैं, जबकि अन्य शंकराचार्य और अधिकांश धर्माचार्य इन्हें इस पद के योग्य नहीं मानते हैं और न ही ये शंकराचार्य पद के लिए स्थापित प्रक्रिया से बने हैं।
इन्हें अखिलेश यादव के शासनकाल में इतना प्रताड़ित किया गया था कि ये अस्पताल तक पहुँच गए थे। हाल ही में कुंभ में इन्हें #अखिलेश_यादव के साथ हँसते-खेलते देखा गया था, और आज इन्होंने योगी आदित्यनाथ का इस्तीफा मांगा है। इन्होंने कहा था कि जब तक #उद्धव_ठाकरे मुख्यमंत्री नहीं बन जाते, इनके मन को शांति नहीं मिलेगी, यानी इनका मन अभी भी अशांत है और ईश्वर की कृपा से आजीवन अशांत ही रहेगा। इन्होंने कभी उद्धव ठाकरे से इस्तीफा नहीं मांगा, जिनके शासनकाल में चार #हिंदू_संतों और उनके ड्राइवर की पुलिस के सामने पीट-पीटकर नृशंस हत्या कर दी गई थी। उद्धव ने संदिग्ध अपराधियों को बचाने का पूरा प्रयास किया था। इतना ही नहीं, साधुओं की हत्या के 5 दिन तक हत्यारों के खिलाफ कोई कार्रवाई नहीं की गई थी। अगर घटना का वीडियो सोशल मीडिया पर नहीं आता, तो उद्धव सरकार इसे दुर्घटना बता देती।
ये महोदय खुद पूर्ण VVIP व्यवस्था में रहते हैं। यहाँ तक कि जब ये मंदिर या किसी धार्मिक स्थान पर जाते हैं, तो इनका चाँदी का सिंहासन साथ जाता है। लेकिन जब VIP व्यवस्था के कारण लोगों के साथ भेदभाव होता है, तो इन्हें सरकार पर बहुत गुस्सा आता है। क्या कोई राजनेता किसी #शंकराचार्य से यह कह सकता है कि आप ठीक से पूजा-पाठ नहीं कर रहे हैं, इसलिए इस्तीफा दे दो? अगर नहीं, तो किसी भी शंकराचार्य को किसी भी राजनेता से इस्तीफा मांगने का कोई अधिकार नहीं है। यह काम विपक्ष का है। धर्म व्यवस्था अपने धर्म विधि के अनुसार चलेगी, और राज्य सत्ता अपने विधान के अनुसार चलेगी।
अगर नकली शंकराचार्य महोदय #राजकाज में हस्तक्षेप करेंगे और विरोधियों के हाथों खेलेंगे, तो इसका परिणाम यह होगा कि राजसत्ता को चुनने वाली जनता के बीच इनकी प्रतिष्ठा तार-तार हो जाएगी, और इसके लिए ये खुद जिम्मेदार होंगे। इनके लिए अच्छा यही होगा कि वे अपनी मर्यादा में रहें।
